September 11, 2026, Warsaw, Mazovia, Poland: Police are seen guarding the entrance to the academy..An escalating dispute over who legally controls Warsaw's Academy of Justice (Akademia Wymiaru Sprawiedliwosci) brings right-wing supporters of the Polish Law and Justice Party (Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc, PiS) to the Academy to protest. The academy's rector-commandant, Michal Sopinski was dismissed earlier leer más this year for alleged serious irregularities in doctoral-degree procedures and overt political activity. The Justice Minister Waldemar Zurek confirmed Sopinski's dismissal on the 10th September and appointed Slawomir Cudak to run the academy. SopiÅ„ski disputes the legality of his dismissal, and he and his supporters continue to regard SopiÅ„ski as rector. Police are seen protecting the entrances to the building, and PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski subsequently arrives to conduct what he describes as a parliamentary intervention.
