Georgia.- Condenan a un año y medio de cárcel a un líder de la oposición georgiana por lanzar agua a un juez

March 8, 2023, Berlin, Germany: Protesters gathered in front of the Office of the Federal Chancellor in Berlin on March 8, 2023, to voice their opposition to a draft law passed by the Georgian parliament that threatens press freedom and civil liberties. Today was the second day of protests in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, where demonstrators clashed with police who used water cannons and pepper spray to disperse them. The proposed law would require non-governmental and media organizations that receive more than 20% of their funding abroad to declare themselves as ''foreign agents'' or face fines and imprisonment. Historically, the term ''agent'' in Russia and Georgia has the meaning of ''spy'' and ''traitor,'' giving a negative connotation to work done by civil society. In Berlin, the protesters chanted slogans and held placards that read, ''No to Russian Law,'' ''We do not need Putin's law,'' and ''EU is our goal.'' Many waved Georgian and EU flags and called on the international community to support their cause. Ukrainians also participated in the protest.
