Housing Crisis protest in Madrid

02 October 2026, Spain, Madrid: Tenants and housing activists gather outside the Congress of Deputies in Madrid during a demonstration called by the Sindicato de Inquilinas e Inquilinos de Madrid. The protest takes place on the Spanish Parliament votes on two Royal Decree-Laws on housing: one concerning measures to protect the social function of housing and increase affordable housing supply, and another leer más aimed at strengthening the stability of habitual rental contracts. The demonstration was organized to pressure lawmakers during the vote. Junts had announced its opposition to the measures, while PP and Vox were also expected to vote against them.
