NAGQU, Oct. 23, 2026 -- Tents are being set up for quake-affected residents at a primary school in Baqen County of Nagqu City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, Oct. 23, 2026. Sixteen people were killed and 32 others injured after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Baqen County of Nagqu City in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region at 10:33 p.m. Thursday (Beijing Time), according to leer más the city's emergency management bureau. The damage caused by the quake is being further evaluated, and disaster relief work is underway. Xizang has activated a Level-II earthquake disaster emergency response, according to the regional emergency command center.
