February 18, 2026, Aleppo Governorate, Syria: A member of the Syrian security forces stands guard outside after hundreds of people were transferred from Al Hol camp in Hasaka Governorate, northeast Syria, to Aq Burhan camp in Aleppo Governorate, northwest Syria. Tens of thousands of people were held for years in Al Hol camp, with many of them accused of affiliation to the so-called Islamic State, or leer más ISIS, until Syrian government forces took over control of the area from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in January 2026.
