Since 2009 the National Party has ruled over Honduras, ever since the removal of Castro's husband, Mel Zelaya, in a coup, the Libre Party has given Honduran people hope. The National Party which took control from Zelaya, especially now ex-president Juan Orlando Hernandez, has been accused of corruption and narco-trafficking. Despite the optimism, there is still controversy, as 18 of Libre Congress members have been renounced because they participated in a corrupt scheme to elect an opposition member, Jorge Calix, as Congress President.
