May 16, 2021, Kolkata, West Bengal, India: Considering the surge in COVID-19 cases, Government has imposed complete 14 days lockdown in the state starting from May 16 6am till May 30 6pm, allowing emergency and essential services only. During this period all government, private offices other than those involved in emergency services shall remain closed. The state recorded 19,511 new Covid 19 cases

and a death toll of 144 in last 24 hrs ( JHU CSSE COVID-19 Data). .This is the first day of the lockdown imposed and a deserted scene is evident everywhere..During the lockdown, all malls, sports complexes, government and private offices, bars, pubs, shopping complexes, and beauty parlours will remain shut. The movement of buses, suburban trains, private vehicles, taxis, and metro rail will also be disallowed during the 15-day lockdown period in the state. However Sweet shops are allowed to remain open from 10 am to 5 pm considerably. Online Food delivery and other online deliveries are exempted from this lockdown.
