Israeli Defense Minister Bennett recently announced his approval of the establishment of a new Jewish neighborhood in the predominantly Palestinian city of Hebron near the old fruit and vegetable market. The land, purchased by Jews living there in the early 19th century, was abandoned after the 1929 massacre in which 67 Jews were murdered by Arab rioters.
