January 21, 2024: Joining over 100,000 people in cities across Germany, nearly 300,000 outraged residents of Munich, Germany protested against the AfD party and its Identitaere Bewegung-developed plan for "remigration" for mass deportation of foreigners and even naturalized German citizens. The Austria-based radical-right Identitaere Bewegung has resurged in recent years in parallel with the rise of leer más the AfD to the number two spot in polling leading many to see the so-called "firewall" between democracy and fascism in Germany breaking down. The remigration plan is nothing new, as the Identitaere have been discussing this and holding demonstrations for years with this term clearly on display as the AfD in parallel has been increasingly dominated by the völkisch-nationalistic direction of Björn Höcke. Critics maintain that the plans have been openly discussed and displayed for years and despite demos, the AfD continues to radicalize and surge, making such protests appear to be vanity projects for the media with little electoral influence. The more recent resurgence is also seen as a move to prepare for a Trump victory for the presidency in the United States and a CDU/CSU Union shifting towards populism and far-right politics alongside the number two AfD in the next German government. So large is the expectation for the AfD's voting percentage that even in opposition, the next coalition would have no choice but to cooperate. Cooperation is already taking place in communes and states with much of the AfD's surge being seen as a result of the explosion of highly-visible Turkish and Arab Jugendbanden (youth gangs), clan criminality, auto posers, the Turkish Grey Wolves (Bozkurts), issues stemming from foreign conflicts, and the recently-passed naturalization laws that potentially anti-democratic Erdogan supporters, Turkish militants, and antisemites stand to pr leer menos
