US authorities arrest two protesters in clashes outside an ICE detention center

May 26, 2026, Newark, New Jersey, Usa: (NEW) Several protesters demonstrate and stand off with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention center as detainees are reportedly on a several day hunger and labor strike. May 26, 2026, Newark, New Jersey, USA: There are reports Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is retaliating against those detained inside the facility and hundreds inside Delaney Hall are on a hunger and labor strike in protest of the reported inhumane conditions. ICE and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have denied the allegations. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin claimed that ICE law enforcement officers were assaulted by anti-ICE protesters who sprayed law enforcement with an unknown chemical substance. Two people were arrested for assaulting, resisting, and impeding federal officers according to the Secretary.
