Plastic Pollution in Dhaka

11 September 2025, Bangladesh, Dhaka: The Shuvaddya canal, connected to the Buriganga River in Keraniganj, Dhaka, has been completely filled with piles of garbage and plastic waste. This area is mainly known for garment factories and small businesses. Waste produced by these establishments such as polythene, plastic packets, and other discarded materials is dumped into the canal.
