Mine clearance in Syria

27 March 2025, Syria, Saraqib: A man walks past a destroyed building in Saraqib, in the southeastern Idlib countryside, where mine clearance efforts are ongoing. Military engineering teams of the 103rd Division of the New Syrian Army are working to remove mines planted by Bashar al-Assad's forces in Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama. Since December 2024, these teams have dismantled thousands of mines, but the leer más process remains slow and dangerous due to a lack of modern equipment.
