14 March 2025, Syria, Yarmouk: A young man sits in front of a ruined building on the outskirts of Damascus. Yarmouk used to be the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. Before the war, around 1 million people used to live there. Today only rubble and skeletons of buildings remain. During the Syrian war, anti-regime forces settled in Yarmouk, turning the camp into a frontline for fierce battles.
