Daily life in Yarmouk, Syria

14 March 2025, Syria, Yarmouk: A young man sits in front of a ruined building on the outskirts of Damascus. Yarmouk used to be the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. Before the war, around 1 million people used to live there. Today only rubble and skeletons of buildings remain. During the Syrian war, anti-regime forces settled in Yarmouk, turning the camp into a frontline for fierce battles. After the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime dozens of people decided to return, some to try to repair the ruins of their homes, others simply to see them one last time.
